Why Traditional Antivirus Technology Is Failing
When broadband internet became available about 15 years ago, most people were still using dial-up connections and would be for several years. Between most users being moving targets on slow dial-up connections, and Windows not nearly as robust as it is now, viruses and spyware of the day was pretty wimpy compared to the threats we have now in 2011. But the problem quickly grew from bad to worse which skyrocketed the demand for better internet security products. Many new antivirus vendors sprang up and gained name recognition so fast that I could probably name 5 of them faster than I could name my 5 closest friends.
