Great Plains Consultant Chicago, San Diego Notes: Dynamics GP 10 Installation
Normally you either leave it to Dynamics GP professional, or get instructions on Microsoft Dynamics Customer Source. If you do not have annual support from Microsoft and by that reason do not have access to Customer Source, we would like to give you simple orientation in GP 10 installation on Windows XP SP3 with Microsoft Office 2007 already installed
To resolve the problems, described below, you will need to download from Microsoft the following files: DexSkipDotNetCheck.mst and DexterityCommonFiles.msi
First Problem. When you try to install Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, you receive the following error message:
Product: Dexterity Shared Components — .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed. The installation cannot continue.
Then, the installation is ended.
This problem occurs if the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 is installed on the computer.
To work around this problem, follow these steps.
Step 1: Install the Dexterity Shared Components
1. Copy the contents of Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 CD 1 to the hard disk of the computer.
2. Download the DexSkipDotNetCheck.mst file.
In order to resolve first problem with Dexterity Shared Components run this script in command line (change paths to what they are on your computer):
msiexec /i “E:gp10cd1BinDexCmnDexterityCommonFiles.msi” TRANSFORMS=”E:GP10DexSkipDotNetCheck.mst”
Then try to continue installation from Dynamics GP 10 CD1. If you are getting error message about .Net Framework 2.0, run the following script (change paths accordingly)
msiexec /i “E:gp10cd1binGreatPlains.msi” SQL_SERVER_NAME=”ALBASPECTRM” INSTALLDIR=”C:Program FilesMicrosoft DynamicsGP” SELECTED_COUNTRY=”United States” TRANSFORMS=:Inst01;E:GP10skipdotnetcheck.mst INSTANCE_NAME=”GP” MSINEWINSTANCE=1 /qb+
When you are done with Dynamics GP 10.0 workstation installation, and if you are getting error message about metrics are not available, please install Microsoft Office Web Components, typically this file fixes the issues: owc11.exe
